Katsaros guitars + erebus bass: branding

Katsaros Guitars, LLC is an independent luthier and guitar repair shop in Santa Cruz, California, owned by Peter Katsaros. Erebus Bass is the name of their custom bass line, which are each individually hand-crafted and customized per order.

We had the pleasure of creating logos and stationery for both brand names, as well as designing the layout for the Erebus Bass headstock. We decided to go with a hand-drawn logotype for “Katsaros,” giving it a truly unique edge and style. For Erebus, we sourced the font Ambrosia: Regular for the main font and modified the E’s to symbolize Greek letters, as a nod to the owner’s heritage. We used Delugional: Regular for the secondary font, which already had the Greek-style A’s we were looking for. As a builder located in California with access to some of the country’s most beautiful wood, Katsaros Guitars is known for their stunning wood selections and custom inlay. With this is mind, we kept the color palette to earthy browns, and incorporated a woodgrain texture to help highlight the brand’s specialty and bring the aesthetic home.
